In 2050, the Flexship has a Signature Management System (SMS) which assesses the situation and acts accordingly. Able to detect a wide range of incoming threats, the ship’s own signature is adjusted for successful deployment of counter-measures, such as a set of unmanned USV’s to perform deceptive countermeasures. Through hit point management, activation of impact reducing (meta)materials and other countermeasures, impact of threats is mitigated as much as possible. However, the ship may still absorbs an impact. The following battle damage assessment (BDA) is done using Digital Twin technology and is then weighed with the mission objectives to determine priorities for battle damage repair.
